School of Code Meetup on 16 Nov!

School of Code is proud to present our first tech meet-up, organised and run by Bootcamp Cohort #1!

The aim of this event is to help everyone who's interested in technology get started, and give them tips and tricks to develop their ideas and skills. Just 10 weeks ago the SoC Bootcampers were complete beginners themselves, so School of Code thought it was suitable that the demos and sessions were led by them! During the meet-up we will be introducing HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Join us for pizza and coding in this friendly and informal session - anyone is welcome! 💻🍕

UPDATE: If you have a laptop please bring it with you and ensure it is charged/ you bring the charger. Please also install 'Notepad++' and 'Google Chrome' before Thursday so that everyone is using the same software.

When? Thursday 16th November, 6-8pm

Where? Google's Digital Garage in Birmingham City Centre

Schedule: 2 sessions 6-7pm

Beginner HTML and CSS:

  • The basics of how to build a webpage and style it!

Beginner/Intermediate JavaScript

  • If you already have experience with HTML and CSS and want to get into more advanced coding, we'll also run through the basics of JavaScript, including things like data types and functions!

During the second half of the event we'll come back together and you'll be able to use the hour as you like - whether you want to keep on practising what you've just learnt, network and discuss any ideas you may have and how to achieve them, or find out how you'd go about learning more - the choice is yours!

There will be plenty of Bootcampers (and pizza) on hand to help you throughout the event.
