Investment & funding opportunities

Having being at the forefront of identifying initiatives to support the search for new ideas and piloting emerging technologies for potential digital and technological infrastructure development, we have gained a lot of experience in attracting investment through funded programmes and negotiating innovative, ground breaking contracts with the private sector. Our collaboration and strong links with public, private, third sector, academia, citizens and neighbourhood networks allows us to connect together opportunities and then identify potential funding routes and mechanisms to deliver shared city outcomes. Our Smart City Roadmap is an example of how we are leading the way on a variety of smart city projects bringing together many partners pulling in funding that includes government, EU funding; national agencies like Innovate UK and regional funds (e.g. ERDF and ESF).

Investment activities include:

  • Building consortia, developing bids and applying for grant funding from the EU and national agencies
  • Holding industry days for market development
  • Aligning city council funded capital programmes and developing grant applications to Central Governmnet
  • Working with other public sector or third sector organisations to better target services or share assets
  • Seeking sponsorship opportunities

We have attracted funding from:

Government Superconnected Cities programme - £10M

EU CIP PSP Discover Project - £1.3M

EU Social Fund (ESF) - £1.3M
