We've led on Open Data since 2008 and understand the challenges and opportunities around the release and access to public open data sets.
Our Nesta funded Birmingham Civic Dashboard was one of the first UK applications which combined both the release and visualisation of public open datasets with civic engagement. Alongside this we have hosted many hackathon style events and activities to build data skills and were responsible for launching the West Midlands Open Data Forum to support a community of data users to progress open data applications and standards.
Our lead on development of an Open Data and Skills Hub provides the foundation to work with regional stakeholders to grow a vibrant Information Marketplace to exchange, trade and access open and real time data; encouraging citizen, community and business use through simple to use visualisation, application tools and drop-in surgeries.
We can support organisations around their release and use of data and the development of programmes to develop data literacy skills and exploit the potential of open data and visualisation tools to support better decision making, interventions and planning.
