School of Code 2019 Bootcamp Launch

We're excited to announce our School of Code Launch Event on Wednesday 27th February 2019 at the Old Ikon Gallery, Fazeley Studios. We will be joined by Andy Street, Mayor of the West Midlands, Michael Harte, Chief Operating Officer of Santander, and Sherry Coutu CBE.

The event will be a chance to find out more about the Bootcamp, our plans for the future, why it's happening, and your first chance to meet the new Bootcampers taking the leap into tech.

School of Code is a free, 16-week web development course. The Bootcamp takes people from complete beginners to full-fledged programmers, as well as helping them into exciting tech careers.

Our mission is to get more and different types of people into technology. The Bootcamp is free to give anyone an opportunity to learn how to code, showing that everyone can benefit from the growing tech industry. Jobs in the tech industry are on the rise; however, diversity remains a key challenge.

We received over 400 applications from a variety of backgrounds, with a near 50:50 gender split and ages ranging from 18-60, we have chosen our final recruits - you can meet them all on the 27th and hear their stories, and see what's happened to our previous bootcampers since they completed the course!

Registration begins at 11.30am, with time for networking before and after the talks - take the opportunity to meet fellow industry players, our Bootcamp sponsors (Santander, Custard Factory & Mortimer Spinks) and our recruits.

We want to train, nurture, and keep tech talent in the West Midlands. If you are an individual or a business who is:
  • Passionate about the tech population in Birmingham.
  • Wanting to find out how you can support the Bootcamp.
  • Looking to hire software developers.
  • Looking for developers to help complete projects.
  • Interested in following the journeys of our budding programmers.
Keen to find out more and about what we're doing and why
